With 2 Guest Speakers - see below for details

A simple basket of buns is something we take for granted on the lunch or dinner table, but there are many areas of the world where this is not true, and this simple basket of bread would be seen as a gift for families that are starving.  A small amount of money like $2.50 also seems insignificant to us who are fortunate to live in Canada but again that $2.50 can do so much in starving communities, without the simple things is life like clean water, shelter and bread.

For this meeting we challenge the team to simply donate the value of the Buns they would have eaten at a real lunch.  So for this month its an easy $2.50 donation that again will go to the Rotary Foundation.

Speakers for this session:

1) Our own Rotarian Allie Blades on Equal Voice and BC Leadership

2) Joey Cheung from Villa Cathay seniors home Villa Cathay Care Home is the first non-profit care home in Vancouver that serve Chinese seniors whose medical needs can no longer be met at home. Villa Cathay Care Home is a registered charitable organization in Vancouver (119285971RR0001) and can only rely on government loan and community fundraising to complete this $72.9M rejuvenation project. Currently, we are raising the final $2M to complete this project, and I am reaching out to see if any Rotary Clubs can donate and support Villa Cathay. The completion of the Villa Cathay Care Home Rejuvenation Project will build a new complex care home with 224 beds where all residents will have their own individual private en-suite rooms with private bathrooms and showers, maximizing residents’ comfort, privacy and dignity. Residents only need to pay between $1K to $3K per month to receive 24 hour care (inclusive of all fees) in the new Villa Cathay Care Home.
