How did Christmas wrapping paper Get invented and when?
In 1917 – and like most things in business it was a complete accident. According to the Hallmark site, Joyce Clyde Hall and his brother, Rollie, invented modern gift-wrap in their Kansas City, MO, store. When they ran out of their solid-colored gift dressing during the peak of the Christmas season, they began substituting the thicker French envelope liners for wrapping presents. At first customers were annoyed not to have the brown paper as they always had.. but after one christmas morning and everyone waking up to the brightly wrapped gifts... well... its simply became the new thing!

- In Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, finding a spider or a spider's web on a Christmas tree is believed to be a harbinger of good luck.
- “Jingle Bells” was written for Thanksgiving, not Christmas. ..
- As late as 1850, December 25 was not a legal holiday in New England, so stores were open, business were open, and children were expected to attend school.
Giving Tuesday Results!
Dec 3rd was giving Tuesday and members came together to donate to the Rotary Foundation, and encourage friends, family and business contacts to think of making Rotary their giving Tuesday choice this year! Results... in all we raised just over $3400 for the foundation - this will make a difference in the lives of many. Thank you everyone!

This year at the annual Holiday fundraiser and in conjunction with the Dec 3rd fundraising, members voted on their top 4 members in the club who they think have given and contributed the most over the past couple of Years.
Members were asked to consider: who always shows up, who participates, who leads the Rotary way, who lives by the 4 way test.
Members voted and the winners were announced at the event:

Congratulations to all of them, The donations to Rotary Foundation will be made in their names and points will be given to make each of them a Paul Harris Fellow.
What is a Paul Harris Fellow?
The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. ... In 1969, the Foundation unveiled the first Paul Harris Fellow medallion at the Rotary Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
Many other notable figures have been named as Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Jonas Salk.
